Meadow pink "Arctic Fire" - Dianthus deltoides.
A perennial herbaceous plant with a compact bush of 20-25 cm, forming dense turf. Not only bright, white-red flowers, but also thin silvery-grey leaves have a decorative effect. This carnation can be planted on rocky paths, for decorating rockeries and as a container crop.
The leaves are dark green, the flowers are pure white with a bright red centre, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, collected in few-flowered inflorescences. Unpretentiousness, abundant, colourful and long flowering are appreciated by flower growers.
Used in group plantings on lawns and borders, for decorating corners of the garden, as well as on alpine slides.
Agrotechnology.
It is distinguished by cold and drought resistance and grows well in any fertile, non-acidic, drained soil. Undemanding to light, can grow in partial shade.
It is grown by sowing seeds in the soil in late May - early June. Shoots appear on the 8-10th day. By autumn, large rosettes of basal leaves grow, which are planted in a permanent place. Further care consists of watering, weeding and fertilizing with complete mineral fertiliser.
Cultivation: a sunny site with a poor, sandy soil alpine house, sandy soil, sun.
Propagation: seed in spring division in early spring and fall; cuttings in late summer.
